Experimental nuclear physics

The experimental nuclear physics (ENP) group formed at the Intitute of Particle and Nuclear Physics has four members:

 

The main research topics of ENP are related to the statistical properties of nuclei. We are interested in photon strength functions, nuclear level densities, statistical properties of neutron resonances, neutron capture cross sections etc.

 

We are members of several international collaborations that were created around the important experimental facilities in Europe and USA:

  • n_TOF (Neutron Time-of-Flight facility) installed at CERN, Geneva, Switzerland
  • DANCE (Detector for Advanced Neutron Capture Experiments) installed at Los Alamos Neutron Scattering Center, Los Alamos National Laboratory, New Mexico, USA
  • TSC measurement (Two-Step Cascades measurement at LVR-15 research reactor) Nuclear Physics Institute at Řež, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic
  • GELINA (Neutron Time-of-Flight facility) installed at Institute for Reference Materials and Measurements (IRMM), Geel, Belgium
  • EXILL campaigne (EXOGAM detector installed at ILL), ILL, Grenoble, France
